Partners

The Writing Center counts with a great number of partners and formats that have arisen from these cooperations:

Center for International Health, LMU

In the spring of 2021, the workshop "Digital Storytelling" was held within the framework of the European University Alliance of Global Health (EUGLOH). Together with the Center for International Health (CIH), this workshop is now being transformed into a virtual format to be available at all times.

European Law Students' Association (ELSA), LMU

In the spring of 2022, the Writing Center held a workshop as part of an essay contest on human rights, organized by the European Law Students Association (ELSA) Munich and the ELSA Heidelberg. The focus was on the requirements of and tools for this specific type of text.

European University Alliance for Global Health (EUGLOH)

Together with our partners of the European University Alliance of Global Health (EUGLOH), two projects in science communication were organized: the course "Writing Global Health" and the workshop "Digital Storytelling." The target groups of both formats are young scientists.

"Writing Global Health" was developed in cooperation with the Writing Center of the Université Paris-Saclay and was held for the first time in the fall of 2020. "Digital Storytelling" was first held in the spring of 2021 and is now being transformed into an online course.

The cooperation shall also be continued in the future. In this sense, as part of the current call of ERASMUS+ (spring 2022), a proposal was sent in for funding of the common project "HEPS" (Higher Education Peer Support).

Politikwissenschaft, LMU

In cooperation with the Geschwister-Scholl-Institut for Political Science, the Writing Center elaborated a format for the target group of academic staff at LMU. The focus of the workshop is on the specific requirements of English academic writing at an advanced level, for example for the publication of articles.

PROFiL, LMU

Ever since the founding of the Writing Center, there has been a strong bond to our partner PROFiL: Until 2021, the peer tutors at the Writing Center completed the TutorPlus training. Since 2021, the Writing Center has its own peer tutor-training, developed with PROFiL. Additionally, a number of academic staff at the Writing Center were trained by PROFiL to become tutor trainers. Since the winter semester 2021/22, the Writing Center is furthermore offering the Fortbildung Schreibdidaktik for teachers, which can be accredited to the Zertifikat Hochschullehre Bayern via the cooperation with PROFiL.

Psychologie, LMU

As part of the cooperation with Faculty 11 for Psychology and Pedagogy, the self-learning course of the Writing Center on Moodle was translated into English. This helped expand the offers of the Writing Center and cover a greater range of needs.

Rachel Carson Center, LMU

The Rachel Carson Center for Environment and Society of LMU is cooperating with the Writing Center in the elaboration of the new master's-program "Environment & Society." The Writing Center designs the module "Writing and Communication Skills," which aims at imparting competencies of science communication.

Technische Hochschule Rosenheim

The Writing Center at LMU is closely connected to the Writing Center at Rosenheim Technical University of Applied Sciences (TH). Writing tutors of TH complete their training at LMU and, in return, students and doctoral candidates of LMU can get consultations for papers in the natural and economic sciences and medicine from tutors at Rosenheim. Furthermore, workshops regarding topics in these fields of study are held by these tutors.

Textwerkstatt Medizin, LMU

When studying medicine, there is usually only little to be written. To counteract this lack of writing experience, the Writing Center offered a workshop series with writing didactical accompaniment for students of medicine in the summer semester 2021 and winter semester 2021/22 that could be accredited for the Module 6. A continuation of this offer is in planning.
